| Can you please advise if the 50 mL bioreactors from TPP can be used in the screening of micro carrier systems? |
| We are not aware of any situation where microcarriers should not be used with the TPP bioreactor. Rather, we strongly believe they can be used. The cells adhere to the carriers and the product is in the liquid. Obviously the cells cannot then be harvested from the carriers. A microcarrier culture should be regarded as a suspension cell culture. The advice we give is to adjust the shaking freuquency. |
| Is a 15 ml bioreactor available? It could be quite useful for people who do a lot of small-scale stuff with volumes too big for 96 deep well plates but less than 10 ml. |
No, TPP has nothing suitable at the present. However we are currently working on bioreactors for other volumes and these should be on the market soon. |
| Is the 50 mL bioreactor from TPP available with VENT caps? |
No, only with a cap with five openings for ventilation. |
| Do you have any information on the optimal shaking diameter for the 50 mL bioreactor from TPP? We use a shaker with a choice of three shaking diameters: 12.5, 25, or 50 mm. I would like to know the best setting for volumes between 5 and 10 ml? |
A typical setup is a 25 mm shaking diameter with a speed of 200 rpm. The culture volume could be 5 ml per tube. |
| What speed is recommended when working with the 50 mL bioreactor from TPP? At work volume of 15; 25; 35 ml? |
We suggest an orbital speed of 200 rpm with a filling volume of 5 ml. |
| What can use to seal the openings of the 50 mL TPP-bioreactor? |
Tape, available from any vendor. |
| I am not sure that the 50 mL Bioreactor from TPP will work for my application. How can I test it? |
Please ask for free samples from your local distributor. |
| Is it possible to grow adherent cells in the 50 mL Bioreactor from TPP? |
Yes, with the aid of micro carriers. |
| Should the test tubes be fixed in a tilted position during the cultivation? |
Inclination of the test tubes increases the oxygen transfer capacity and is advised for aerobic systems with high respiration activity. You can find more information in the following publication: |
